Process Technology

The process of lost wax casting, also known as soluble glass casting or silicasol casting, is a popular and widely used method in the field of precision CNC machining. It involves creating a replica of the desired product by using a wax pattern, which is coated with a soluble glass material. This coated wax pattern is then surrounded by a ceramic shell, which is created by alternating layers of ceramic slurry and stucco. Once the ceramic shell is complete, it is heated to a high temperature, causing the wax to melt and flow out, leaving behind a cavity in the shape of the desired product.
After the wax is removed, the cavity is filled with molten metal through a process called die casting. Die casting involves injecting molten metal into the cavity under high pressure, ensuring that it fills all the intricate details of the ceramic shell. The molten metal is then allowed to cool and solidify, forming the final product.
Another commonly used method in the casting process is sand casting. This process involves creating a sand mold by packing sand around a pattern, which is then removed to leave a cavity. Molten metal is poured into the cavity and allowed to cool and solidify, resulting in the desired product.
Once the casting process is complete, precision CNC machining is often employed to achieve the final desired dimensions and smooth surfaces. This process involves using computer-controlled machines to remove any excess material and refine the shape of the product.
To enhance the appearance and durability of the final product, surface treatment techniques are employed. These techniques include polishing, plating, anodizing, and painting, among others. They help to improve the aesthetics, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance of the product, ensuring its longevity and appeal.
